{What I’m Reading} Learning to Read What I Want

Who would have thought that I would ever struggle to find the time and energy to read. But that is exactly what I have found while being pregnant. I think partly in the beginning I was worried/stressing about how everything was progressing because of my miscarriage last year. But as I’ve moved along I think I just have found plenty of other ways to spend my time when I’m at home and it just hasn’t been reading.

Then a light bulb went off, maybe it had something to do with what I was trying to read. I was just finishing up committee work for the Thumbs Up! Award and was really starting to hate anything that was paranormal/romance/dystopian/etc. So I decided I needed to take a break from my usualĀ diet of teen and middle grade books and I started reading what looked good to me. This was a game changer for me and I have been much happier since I started reading for me.

These are the books that are currently on my nightstand.

I picked this one up on a whim. Defiantly not a book for everyone, there are parts of this story that I really enjoy and parts that are leaving me wonder what is going on.

I picked this one up after reading a few different blog posts that referenced this book. So far I find that Derek and I already follow some of the principles discussed in our day to day lives, it will just be if we can continue those ideas once our little one has joined us.

This one isn’t exactly on my nightstand, since this is my current audiobook. I absolutely adore anything that is read by Jim Dale. Anything read by Jim Dale is magical, I don’t want to get out of my car while listening to an audiobook narrated by him. This series is a prequel of sorts to Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie {the audiobook is narrated by none other than Jim Dale}. So far I’m in love with this book and will be looking forward to the rest of the series.
